Following the previous steps and necessary initiatives for cooperation with the International Academy of Pathology, the largest and most active organization in the Turkish pathology community, all preparations have been finalized for the realization of the Turkish branch of the Academy under the name IAP Turkish Division. Previously, a group of 40 people was formed with a broad participation in 2008 and recently added colleagues, and a statute was prepared. These stages have been handled in accordance with the statute of the IAP. In terms of general operation, in order not to create a fragmented and autonomous structure, it has been envisaged from the very beginning that this group should work as one of the working groups within the body of the Federation of Pathology Societies (PDF) and has been approved by both previous and current PDF boards of directors.

According to the statute, members who will join the working group will apply with the reference of one of the current members, and their membership will take place with the approval of the board of directors. Members will deposit the annual fee of 8 USD into the bank account to be notified by our Federation, and our Federation will send the total amount to the IAP on behalf of the IAP Turkish Division, according to the number of members.

With the IAP Turkish Division, the Turkish pathology community will gain a new international representation area, communication will be established with the communities and pathologists of the countries dominating world pathology, educational programs can be created with the support of the IAP, the opportunity to easily access news from the IAP community will be provided, and the opportunity to organize an IAP congress in Türkiye will arise.

It is a known fact that the relations established by our community with European pathology up to now have brought a lot to the country's pathology. Through this, various educational meetings have taken place in our country, more frequent visits of European authorities to our country, closer relations of our young pathologists with their European colleagues have been ensured, a European congress has been organized in our country, and these activities have been a reference for other congresses and meetings. With IAP membership, similar relations and cooperation will be established with the continents of America, Asia, and Australia in our shrinking world.
